Being Thankful For What We Have
Hey folks! Transparency Disclosure- Some of the links in this commodity are affiliate links. That means I'll receive a small commission if you make up one's mind to click on information technology and buy something. Don't worry, it doesn't cost y'all annihilation extra!
This is my 2d Thanksgiving blogging with Partners in Fire, and I love having the opportunity to talk about what I'1000 thankful for each year. Sometimes information technology'south difficult to take a step back and be thankful for what we have, especially when we are pursuing so much more. I of the reasons why I dear Thanksgiving is that it gives us the opportunity to do just that.
Existence Thankful for What We Take
I'm incredibly thankful for all the things I have in life. We live in a order where it's easy to beginning a blog and try to forge your way into financial freedom (notation I said attempt – non attain). I conspicuously think in that location are tons of ways nosotros tin meliorate as a social club – valuing families, UBI, and improving wages to name a few, simply that's not to say I'one thousand not thankful for what nosotros already have.
Although things aren't perfect, in that location are a lot of reasons that I'1000 thankful to alive in the United states of america. Everyone has the opportunity to vote and chose our representatives (though suppression is a real thing, groups are working to make information technology improve). We can switch states if we don't agree with the policies of the state that we live in, or vote to effect change in our home states.
Nosotros live in a time where there are tons of opportunities to make coin outside of a traditional job. You lot tin watch people's pets, drive, weblog, sell stuff – the ideas for side hustles are endless. Many people have been able to escape the ix to 5 grind and make their ain schedules by engaging in these side hustles. Nosotros have the opportunity to alive the way we want, and for that I'chiliad eternally grateful.
Understanding My Privilege
I sympathise that not anybody in the United States had opportunities that I take. In that location is still a ton of work that needs to be done to ensure racial equality, grade equality, gender equality, etc. I'm thankful that I've been able to build myself a platform to address some of these topics, though I know just talking well-nigh it isn't ever plenty. But, this post isn't actually to address all that is wrong with society (I've washed tons of that and will go along to do so!) – it'southward to show thanks for all the things nosotros exercise accept. Let's get dorsum on track.
Thankful for My Friends
I take the best friends ever – and that includes my online Twitter friends. I've never felt so supported and loved by a group of people in my life. When my human relationship concluded earlier this year, both my Twitter friends and my existent-life friends jumped to my back up. Information technology was amazing to see so much compassion from such a diverse group of people, and words volition never be plenty to express how much that meant to me.
My real-life friends brought me to Los Angeles for a get-away, and it was much needed. That trip helped me really understand my life goals, and get back on the right rail to achieving them. And when I got home from that trip, renewed, rejuvenated, and completely over the break upwardly, I met a fellow whose life goals were much more closely aligned with my own.
Thankful for My Partner
I've never had a relationship where I would call my boyfriend a true partner before. I don't accept to ask him to do the dishes, make the bed, or exercise literally anything else effectually the house. He just does things because he's really an adult and knows that things don't magically go done.
It's been such a relief to non take to take intendance of everything anymore. I withal have to work my forty hours, but now I have and then much more than time to come domicile and piece of work on my side projects, considering I have a partner who is helping me with house things. He also edits my blog posts for me, helps me brainstorm new side hustle ideas, and is a bully photographer! The best office is that it'due south non a chore to get him to help me with this stuff -he wants to be engaged and involved.
That stuff is all keen, just the real gem is how compatible we are outside of the side hustle earth. Nosotros both dearest books, travel, art, and the metaphysical world. We've spent hours just hanging out at bookstores and new age stores; I've never had a partner who enjoys those things as much as I do. Of form, we are still in the honey moon phase, but I'm and then happy that I can totally be myself with him.
Thankful for Partners in Fire
I've put a ton of work into Partners in Fire, and I've learned so much from my final ii years of blogging. I'thousand incredibly thankful that I've had the opportunity to learn all these skills (a tiny bit of coding, building a website, social networking, affiliate marketing…there's and so much!). Although I haven't fabricated a ton of money with it yet, the skills I've adult and the friends I fabricated accept been invaluable.
In fact, I'm using some of the skills I learned over the by two years to create a new website. The sole purpose of this new one is income via affiliate marketing (and mayhap a picayune drop-shopping – notwithstanding testing that out) so I don't expect to make the same types of connections, only the lessons I learned in edifice Partners in Burn have been invaluable, and I call back information technology will assist make this new project successful.
I've also learned a ton about life and finance through blogging. You might think that equally a personal finance blogger I have all the answers already, but I don't. Reading all my Twitter friend's blogs take actually helped open my eyes to not merely financial topics that I had never even considered merely too real-life issues that need to be addressed.
Blogging at Partners in Fire has been an astonishing journey – I'yard and then thankful for all that I've washed with it so far, and looking forward to tons more in the future.
Thankful for My Job and Piece of work Experiences
Yes, I hate my job, and yes, I'm pursuing financial independence because of. Information technology's at the aforementioned time boring and anxiety inducing. But, the truth of the thing is that it pays great money, and I would exist nowhere near to financial independence if I didn't take it.
And that pattern fits for all of my work experiences. I hated being in the war machine, but my service was the simply reason I was able to purchase a house in California. That investment is what spearheaded my journey to financial independence. I was able to buy two boosted houses after I sold it. So now I accept a abode that I alive in mortgage free and an investment belongings.
I didn't especially like my job in Savannah, but the experiences I gained there and the people I met will stay with me for the balance of my life. The same goes for my chore in Los Angeles. I loved living in LA, and I'yard thankful that I had a job that allowed me to live my life in that location with relatively little financial stress.
Travel
Having this career path has given me the opportunity to travel the world. I've been to virtually 20 countries on four different continents, and knocked some amazing places off of my bucket list (you can read most some of my adventures at Travels Near and Far!) None of that would accept been possible in whatever way if not for the loftier paying jobs that I've had.
I also accept the power to move effectually the The states with my piece of work. I wanted to leave Los Angeles, and that was possible. And so I wanted to move to Pennsylvania (still trying to effigy out why), and I was able to achieve that as well. That ability is largely based on my career, so although I don't necessarily enjoy the work that I do, I'm thankful for the opportunity to exercise information technology.
Thankful for So Many Things
There are then many other things that I'm thankful for- my family unit, my pets, my health, a good stock market place (for now) and tons of things that I probably forgot to list. I'm thankful that we have a holiday specifically designed effectually giving thank you and so that I can exist sappy and listing all these things!
What are yous thankful for this year? Let me know in the comments, and allow's be thankful together!
